So I strapped on a helmet, slabbed on the sunscreen and took the awkward leap onto my new friend, Babylonia's, saddled back. Where I found, this brown beauty's 9 years old & waaay too used to the beginner-rider routine to need my guidance - she just stepped right up as soon as Willy, my guide, started off. We climbed dirt + stone roads, passing wood-fenced pastures, stilted casitas and muddy forests to reach a placid stretch of the Mameyes river - where I took a quick dip and Babylonia grazed on bamboo fronds.
The return home turned a little adventurous when a playful, free-roaming male horse (who didn't return to the stables that morning like he was supposed to) joined our small party. While Beachboy (that's his name) was well-trained like my horse and wanted to fall in line to join the journey home ... Beachboy also liked to nip at my Babylonia's butt, causing her to burst into random trots without warning. Haha the first few times she started running I made all sorts of hilarious WoooaaAAOOhhhOOhh sounds - I actually got pretty used to trot speed ;) I just didn't really like that B had to anxiously glance over her shoulder so much. Either way, no serious damage was done - Just a relaxing last adventure in my favorite rainforest. :D
